Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had some grievances to air following his team’s loss in Super Bowl LIX.
The Chiefs fell 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles, ending the team’s hopes for a third consecutive Super Bowl title. Following the game, Hopkins pushed back on the narrative from the season that the Chiefs benefited from referee calls, noting that their were “touchy calls” and asked if reporters would “report that.”

“I saw a lot of things in the media about the refs, but obviously s–t, what y’all gonna say now about the refs,” Hopkins said. “There was a lot of touchy calls. Are y’all gonna report that? Are y’all gonna talk about the refs now?”
He also pushed back on any criticism towards Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, saying that his quarterback is “human,”
Hopkins had two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown. He was a midseason acquisition by the Chiefs and was playing in his first Super Bowl.
Mahomes went 21-of-32 for 257 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions and one lost fumble. It was his fifth appearance in the Super Bowl and he now has a 3-2 record in the game.
Kansas City was assessed seven penalties for a total of 75 yards in the game. The Eagles were assessed eight penalties for a total of 59 yards. It was the sixth time on the season in which the Chiefs were called for seven or more penalties.
Hopkins is eligible for unrestricted free agency this offseason.
