Drafted by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Commesso started the season with the IceHogs, posting a 1-1-0 record to go along with a 3.52 GAA and a .854 SV% in two appearances.

In his first full pro season last year with Rockford, Commesso posted a 18-16-4 record, a 2.65 GAA and a .906 SV%. Prior to jumping into the AHL, Commesso spent three seasons at Boson University (NCAA), collecting a 43-22-4 record, a 2.57 GAA and a .914 SV% in 73 appearances.

A product of Barrie, Ont., Phillips has only played in one game during the 2024-25 season and it was with Rockford. Although his latest recall did not see him draw into the Blackhawks lineup, Phillips showed well last year for Chicago, posting six assists in 33 games.

Drafted by the Blackhawks in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Phillips has seen 53 career NHL regular season games, posting 11 points.

With Commesso heading up to the Blackhawks on his first NHL recall, he could have an opportunity to see a game on Chicago’s road trip. Commesso has proven to be a solid goalie at every level he has played at so far and is a big part of Chicago’s future.

Although Phillips is bound to be disappointed with his loan to the AHL, he will have the opportunity to play solid minutes for Rockford and should be one of the first recalls if a defender goes down with an injury.
