CFB Analyst Josh Pate Wins the Internet With the Best Joke on Scottie Scheffler originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Scottie Scheffler is trending everywhere after his Open Championship feat. On Monday, the World No. 1 graced the red carpet premiere of ”Happy Gilmore 2″ for his cameo, dazzling alongside wife Meredith, Adam Sandler and the rest of the cast.

Before that, he appeared at the taping of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” discussing his victory and engaging with the audience. The man is receiving felicitations from the whole internet.

College football analyst Josh Pate also jumped on the bandwagon — but with a twist. Instead of offering a straightforward congratulations, he delivered arguably the best joke of the night.

“Casual golf fan here…an ex-con is dominating the PGA? Am I hearing this right?” he posted on X, which has gained 12,000 likes already. The joke refers to Scheffler’s arrest last year, which made headlines.

During the 2024 PGA Championship, Scheffler tried to drive around a traffic stop near Valhalla Golf Club following a fatal accident, allegedly ignoring officers’ instructions and facing multiple charges. He was released without bail and was able to make his second-round tee time.

“A real rags to riches story, I tell ya!” a fan joined in.

“Don’t give Adam Sandler any ideas for another movie,” another posted.

“He got arrested for following directions. My buddy did 48 hours for arguing with a horse cop at the Belmont Stakes and still isn’t allowed in Nassau County,” one joked.

“Some guy named Happy? Or is that something else ? 😁” a fan wittingly commented, referring to Sandler’s character Happy Gilmore from the movie.

“Hardened criminal, that one…” another wrote.

“In order to be the GOAT of a generation. Apparently, you need a mug shot,” one fan said.
