Caroline Dubois has ramped up her calls for a fight with Alycia Baumgardner, after her ringside argument with the American last month.

In August, Dubois outpointed Amelia Moore to stay unbeaten and retain her WBC and WBO lightweight titles, before trading words with Baumgardner, who was present in Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live arena.

The unbeaten Baumgardner is a former undisputed super-featherweight champion, and in November, she will challenge Elif Nur Turhan for the IBF lightweight belt. Should Baumgardner win that bout, Dubois is keen on a unification fight with the 32-year-old.

“I knew she was coming obviously to fight week to announce her fight, so I expected we were going to trade words at some point, and we were going to see each other,” Dubois told The Independent.

“I wanted to gauge her energy and see where she was at. She didn’t approach me before the fight, and I respected that, because it was my fight week – it wasn’t hers. We kind of just stayed in each other’s own lane and focused on each other’s own job: her to promote her fight and me to do that for mine.

“But after the fight and everything was over, I guess it kind of just boiled over. At the end of the day, she’s coming into my division; I’m the unified world champion, I’m the best woman in the division, and you’re coming into my division thinking you can just come in and take over. She’s very arrogant in that sense.

“I saw her at the end of the fight, it was totally spur of the moment. I didn’t even know what I was doing until I was doing it. I just walked up to her, so it was very natural. And yeah, what happened happened.

Dubois, 25, also said she would want a fight with Baumgardner to take place in the UK, rather than on the American’s turf.

“I’m from Southeast London, it’d be awesome to have that fight happen at the O2 Arena,” Dubois said. “We need to pull some big numbers, but I’m sure we can.

“It would be awesome to have that literally a stone’s throw away from my house, from where where I grew up, the the park I used to run at. To have her come over here and just put her in her place…

“And she’s a big name; it’s so important to be involved in big fights against big opponents, big build-ups, big moments, and she she represents that, she brings that. It would be awesome to bring her over here and show the world – not even her – who’s the best in the division.”
