The tennis ball from the final point of Carlos Alcaraz’s U.S. Open final victory over Jannik Sinner sold for $88,900 at Sotheby’s on Tuesday, per Matt Liberman of Clict. That figure set a record for a tennis ball sold at a public auction.

Alcaraz earned the final point via an ace in a four-set victory: 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The 22-year-old Alcaraz is now a six-time Grand Slam singles champion who has won two French Opens (2024, 2025), two Wimbledons (2023, 2024) and two U.S. Opens (2022, 2025).

He’s currently the world’s No. 1 ranked player after his latest U.S. Open victory against Sinner, who was the top men’s player in the world for 65 straight weeks until Alcaraz earned the distinction.

Liberman also reported that the championship point from Alcaraz’s straight-set victory over 24-time Grand Slam Singles title winner Novak Djokovic at this year’s U.S. Open sold for $31,750.
