WIMBLEDON, LONDON — Carlos Alcaraz begins his quest for a third successive Wimbledon title, opening the 2025 tournament on Centre Court against Italian veteran Fabio Fognini.

Fresh off the back of victory at Queen’s Club, which stretched a career-best winning run to 18 matches, the Spanish star is aiming to add another grand slam to his name, having already won the French Open this year.

In his way is the world No. 138. Fognini and Alcaraz have met twice over the years, both on clay, with the latter getting the better of his 38-year-old opponent on both occasions.

This will be Fognini’s 15th Wimbledon appearance and the former top-10 player has never progressed beyond the third round. Alcaraz will be aiming to ensure he doesn’t get that opportunity today with any slip-ups.
