Carlos Alcaraz is set to defend his title when he heads to season’s second grand slam event, the French Open 2025, starting Sunday.

The Spaniard defeated Alexander Zverev in the 2024 final to become the youngest man to win the Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces, at just 21 years. This victory also marked the fourth major Grand Slam title in his career. 

Alcaraz comes into this year’s French Open on the back of some impressive results. Having started the clay swing with a title win in Monte Carlo, the Spaniard finished it with an Italian Open triumph. He defeated home hero and fierce rival Jannik Sinner in the final at Rome’s Foro Italico to gain a mental edge going into the French Open.

When is Carlos Alcaraz’s next match at French Open 2025?

Carlos Alcaraz has a favorable draw in this year’s French Open, with Sinner, history-chasing Novak Djokovic and Zverev all placed in the top half.

The 22-year-old opens his title defence against Italy’s Giulio Zeppieri, who was drafted in late into the draw after Kei Nishikori pulled out.

Alcaraz vs. Zeppieri Round 1 Roland Garros clash is likely to take place on Monday or Tuesday.

French Open 2025 tournament schedule

Play gets underway 11 a.m. local time (5 a.m. ET) on all courts, except for Court Philippe Chatrier most days as the action starts an hour later on the showpiece court.

From May 25 until June 6, Chatrier will also host one singles match during the night session starting at 2:15 p.m. ET.

The women’s singles final will take place on June 7 at 9 a.m. ET and the men’s finals will be staged 24 hours later.
