One week after a player was robbed of a touchdown due to a goal-line drop, it happened again on Sunday. This time, it was Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado, whose touchdown was erased after he let the ball go just before the end zone.

On third-and-one in the fourth quarter, Demercado broke through for what should have been a 72-yard touchdown run. But Demercado made the fatal mistake that others have made before: He let the ball drop from his hands right as he approached the end zone, just barely ahead of the goal line.

The call was a close one. Demercado’s run was originally ruled as a touchdown, but was overturned after review.

The touchdown would have given Arizona a 28-6 lead over the Tennessee Titans. On the next drive, the Titans scored a touchdown to narrow the Cardinals’ lead, though they missed the extra point.

The touchdown would’ve been Demercado’s first of the season. The third-year running stepped up for Sunday’s game after Trey Benson was placed on IR.

Things only got more wild from there: Later in the fourth, the Titans scored in bizarre fashion. With Tennessee in the red zone, quarterback Cam Ward’s throw was intercepted by Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, but Taylor-Demerson bobbled the ball before eventually losing it.

The fumble somehow got kicked around by three Carindals defenders before Titans receiver Tyler Lockett was able to smother it in the end zone.

The score got Tennessee within two points of Arizona’s lead, with only a few minutes left in the game.
