This Sunday (28), Fluminense defeated Botafogo 2-0 at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 25th round of the Brasileirão.

The match marked the debut of Argentine coach Luis Zubeldía, who replaced Renato Gaúcho.

The goal that paved the way for the tricolor victory was scored by Germán Cano, with whom Zubeldía worked at the beginning of both their careers in Argentina.

At the end of the match, Lima took advantage of a beautiful assist from Martinelli and sealed the final score of the Clássico Vovô.

The last time Fluminense beat Botafogo was on June 26, 2022. Since then, there had been 9 derbies in which the Tricolor Carioca didn’t know what it was like to get three points.

During this period, there was one draw and eight consecutive wins for Glorioso.

With the win in the derby, Fluminense reached 34 points and climbed to eighth place.

Meanwhile, Botafogo remained with 40 points and in fifth position.

The Tricolor das Laranjeiras returns to the field on Wednesday (1), when they visit Sport for the Brasileirão. On the same day, Glorioso hosts Bahia.
