Cameron Young, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, won the The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Sunday, March 15 by shooting an overall 13-under 275.

Matthew Fitzpatrick of North Palm Beach placed second, shooting 12-under. Fitzpatrick and Young are close friends and TGL teammates.

It was the second PGA Tour victory for the 28-year-old Young, who earned $4.5 million.

Cameron Young the golfer

Young, a native New Yorker, settled in northern Palm Beach County after he graduated from Wake Forest in 2019 and joined the Dye Preserve Golf Club. “The culture,” he once said about the area, “evolves around golf.”

Young, ranked No. 15 in the world entering The Players, is one of the more unassuming, unemotional golfers on the PGA Tour. He often is among those who go unnoticed.

Part of that is because he never did much to break out and make people notice. He previously won once on the PGA Tour, the 2025 Wyndham Championship. Ge tied a PGA Tour record for the most runner-up finishes (7) by a player before his first Tour win.

But his talent is not unnoticed by his peers. Young was chosen by captain Keegan Bradley for the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team, and led the team with three wins, equaling Xander Schauffele.

Where does Cameron Young live?

Cameron Young lives in Palm Beach Gardens. Matthew Fitzpatrick lives in North Palm Beach. They are close friends and TGL teammates.

Palm Beach Gardens is next to North Palm Beach.

Young joined and plays at the Dye Preserve Golf Club in Jupiter. Fitzpatrick, 31, originally from England and attended Northwestern University, joined and plays at The Grove XXIII, Michael Jordan’s private golf club in Hobe Sound, Florida.

Young and Fitzpatrick play for the New York Golf Club in the tech-infused TGL, which was started by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Woods lives in nearby Jupiter Farms; McIlroy also lives in Palm Beach Gardens.

Cameron Young’s family life

Young married Kelsey Dalition in March 2021. According to Wikipedia, they had known each other since childhood in Garrison, New York. They have three children: two boys, Henry and John, and a daughter, Vivienne.

“I’ve dreamed of having that moment with them for a long time,” Young said after his Players Championship win on Sunday, March 15. “To get to see them after I did my interviews and got to actually give my boys a hug, see my wife, see my little girl … that’s something I’ll remember for a long time.”

Cameron Young won partly because of two amazing tee shots

On the iconic No. 17 hole, an island green on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Young was one shot behind Matthew Fitzpatrick. Young stuck his tee shot to 10 feet. He pulled even by making the birdie putt.

It was the first time all tournament Young was tied for the lead or held the lead outright.

Then on hole No. 18, Young, who said he “drove it so average this week,” hit the most important tee shot of his career. It traveled 375 yards and not only was the longest of the day on that hole by 20 yards, but the longest on the hole since they started tracking drives in 2003.

Young closed with a par and a 72.

The win was sealed when Fitzpatrick missed an 8-foot par putt that would have forced a playoff.

“The overarching thought is I’m going to hit the best shot of my life right here,” Young said. “I don’t know if I can think of one that’s better.”
