Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo will be in the same ring on the same day on May 31. However, they will not face one another, yet. Plant takes on Armando Resendiz, while Charlo fights Thomas LaManna.

The contests at the Michelob Ultra Arena air on Prime Video.

Plant (23-2) is a former IBF super middleweight champion who is 2-2 in his last four fights. Resendiz (15-2) is 3-2 in his previous five contests, the biggest win of his career being against Jarrett Hurd.

Plant wants to return to facing top-tier competition, and a win could result in a fight against Charlo. First, he must get past the dangerous Mexican.

“I’m looking to put on a show,” Plant said. “This is a big moment for Armando, but it’s big for me, too. I have a lot on the line. He may have nothing to lose, but I’ve got everything to lose. I sacrificed a lot, and you’re gonna see it in the ring.”

Charlo (33-0) competes in a new division after already holding gold at super welterweight and middleweight. “Hit Man” last fought in 2023, beating Jose Benavidez Jr. Competing sparingly, Charlo is finally ready to return to the ring and end the year with a clash against Plant.

“I’m moving up to 168 because the competition is better. I’m not overlooking LaManna, but there are other fighters I can face in this division that would solidify my legacy,” Charlo said. “But right now, I’m focused on getting wins and getting to the next level. I’m always learning and enjoying the sport.”

LaManna (39-5-1) failed to capture gold against Erislandy Lara in 2021 but has since won nine straight.
