Nearly three weeks after the 2025 Masters Tournament ran from April 10–13 at Augusta National Golf Club, Bryson DeChambeau revisited an awkward moment from his final‐round pairing with Rory McIlroy.

That event wrapped up with DeChambeau being tied for the fifth spot with S.J Im. Post-tournament, he made a revelation that McIlroy “didn’t talk to me once all day” which remains a talking point among fans and media. He opened up about the silent treatment to Golfweek.

“I can only speak for myself. I can’t speak for Rory. What I can say about myself is that I genuinely care about the game of golf and growing it globally and inspiring a bunch of people and kids, especially kids, to play this great game,” DeChambeau said.

McIlroy secured his first green jacket in a sudden-death playoff against Justin Rose, completing the modern career Grand Slam and becoming the first European to capture all four majors.

Now weeks removed from Augusta, DeChambeau has turned the moment into a platform for his fan-first philosophy, insisting that interacting authentically is “my duty … as a professional golfer and a bit of an entertainer”.

“So it’s my duty, as not only a professional golfer, but a bit of an entertainer, to interact and be as authentic as I possibly can be with myself and with my fans. I think it’s my responsibility to do so. I’ll continue to keep doing that because that’s what I believe in,” He added.

Despite speculation of tension, DeChambeau has dismissed any animosity, emphasizing mutual respect and the shared pursuit of excellence on golf’s grandest stages.
