After six long years the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Portrush, Northern Ireland will once again be home to the British Open, with the 153rd edition of the major set to begin from Thursday.
World No. 3 Xander Schauffele enters as the defending champion, having defeated the likes of Justin Rose and Billy Horschel to win last year’s edition.
It will be a tough task for the American to retain his title for a second successive year, with the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau vying to win the major as well.
The tournament winner will earn $3.1 million, the same as last year which is one of the biggest purses in the sport.
