The 57th annual RBC Heritage Tournament is set to tee off on Thursday with a star-studded field set to compete at Harbour Town Golf Links.
Rory McIroy, who won the 89th Masters at Augusta National on Sunday to become the sixth golfer to win the career Grand Slam, is sitting this one out. But Justin Rose, who was the Masters runner-up after losing in a playoff on the 18th hole to McIlroy, will be in the field — along with Scottie Scheffler, who won the RBC Heritage last year the week after winning his second green jacket at the Masters.
As a PGA Signature Event, there is no cut this weekend at Harbour Town, with a field of 72 golfers vying for the winner’s share of $3.6 million. In addition to Scheffler and Rose, other top 10 finishers from the Masters who are in the field include Xander Schauffele, Jason Day, Corey Conners and Ludvig Åberg. The field also includes Justin Thomas, Russell Henley, Colin Morikawa, Victor Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood.
Savannah native Brian Harman will be back in Hilton Head for one of his favorite tournaments. The 38-year old is coming off his fourth career victory at the Valero Texas Open two weeks ago. The Savannah Christian and UGA alum finished in a tie for 36th at 2-over-par at the Masters.
Harman made his PGA Tour debut as an amateur at Harbour Town in 2004 as a junior at Savannah Christian. He earned a sponsor’s exemption after winning the 2003 U.S. Junior Amateur title.
Last April, Harman closed out his week at the RBC Heritage on the strongest of notes as he shot a career low 7-under-par 64 at Harbour Town Golf Links to finish in a tie for 12th.
The lefty enters the tournament at No. 24 in the World Golf Ranking.
