Sport Bild reports that Werder Bremen wingback Felix Agu will remain in the Bundesliga next season. Despite interest from several Premier League clubs, the 25-year-old – per the tabloid – will not seek to take advantage of a €10m release clause in his current contract.

After struggling with injury and form issues for several years, Agu got the just completed Bundesliga campaign off to a fine start this year. The former German youth international scored his first league in three-and-a-half years in an opening day 2-2 draw with Augsburg.

Agu would end up scoring a career-best three league goals over the course of the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign, includingan absolute stunner against Holstein Kiel on matchday 27.

Sport Bild’s brief report on social media platform X does not mention why Agu has opted to let the release clause lapse. Whether or not Agu’s decision to stay is related to Bremen’s recent head coaching change is not at all clear.
