Brandon Aiyuk has delivered his most pointed message so far to the San Francisco 49ers amid a stand-off between the two parties.
On Saturday, June 27, Aiyuk posted a mirror selfie of himself from the waist down to his Instagram story that included a caption calling on the 49ers to release him.

“Take me off yo bum a– team,” Aiyuk wrote, with the double exclamation emoji punctuating the sentence. “Tf is the hold up?”
Per usual, Aiyuk didn’t directly mention the 49ers by name in his post. Still, it was crystal clear he was referencing the team – with which he had a falling out during the 2025 NFL season.
It isn’t exactly clear what precipitated the rift between Aiyuk and the 49ers. The 2023 All-Pro second teamer was expected to miss the early portion of the season while recovering from a torn ACL and MCL he suffered in Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season but ultimately did not play a snap.
San Francisco voided the guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract ahead of the 2026 season amid the parties’ dispute.

And early in the 2026 NFL offseason, 49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters Aiyuk had likely played his last snap for the organization.
Nonetheless, the 49ers have not yet moved on from Aiyuk, a fact that has clearly rankled the 28-year-old wide receiver.
As a result, Aiyuk has increasingly called out the organization in a series of social media posts and videos. Those posts have included the wide-out referring to the 49ers as “stupid,” expressing his desire to join his college teammate Jayden Daniels on the Washington Commanders and showing him throwing wads of cash on the floor of his closet – to represent the money the 49ers already paid him.
As part of his most recent series of posts – which included a three-and-a-half minute video posted to YouTube – Aiyuk also revealed he had parted ways with his agent and that he was currently representing himself.

Aiyuk also appeared to take some shots at Lynch and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. The 28-year-old did not mention either by name but implied Shanahan has “the temperament of a (expletive) toddler.”
And Aiyuk capped off his latest rant with another biting message to the 49ers.
“We is not cool,” Aiyuk said. “We won’t be cool, and I will never be stepping in that building.” – except for Oct. 19.
Aiyuk’s noted his lone exception to that rule would come on Oct. 19, when the 49ers are set to host the Commanders in a “Monday Night Football” contest.
