Bill Belichick is again saying that girlfriend Jordon Hudson has had no role with North Carolina’s football program.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Belichick said that he had initially asked for Hudson to be copied on his North Carolina emails shortly after he was hired because he was so busy at the start of his new job. Hudson’s potential role with UNC football became the source of fascination after public records requests had unearthed Belichick’s email.

In the story published Wednesday ahead of UNC’s game at Clemson on Saturday, Belichick brushed off speculation of Hudson’s deep involvement with the football program as “ridiculous.”

“When I took the job here, it was December, and at that time I was doing five TV shows, the radio show, I had a book coming out,” Belichick said. “I had a lot of other things going on when I took the job.”
“So,” he continued, “I sent an email when I got here and I said, Can you please forward any requests to Jordon about my personal appearances so that I can work and coordinate them outside the university? Didn’t have anything to do with the university. Well, that was leaked as released as ‘Jordon’s involved in every single thing that I do and she’s copied on every email.’ That’s just a flat-out lie.”
Belichick went on to say that he and Hudson still have a working relationship but it’s “not North Carolina stuff.” The school has previously said that she does not have a role with the football program. So has Belichick.
Hudson rose to prominence after Belichick was hired at North Carolina following an April 2025 interview with “CBS Sunday Morning.” In it, Hudson chimed in to say that Belichick would not be answering a question about their relationship. Two weeks later, North Carolina even released a statement saying that Hudson was still welcome at the team facilities — and definitely not an employee of the school — after a podcast report citing two sources that said Hudson had been told not to be at UNC’s football facilities.

Recently, the off-field attention on Belichick’s program has been about something much more serious. North Carolina general manager Michael Lombardi, a longtime confidant of Belichick, resigned earlier in the month amid a school investigation.
Lombardi had been placed on leave pending an investigation following a complaint from a former staffer. That investigation has now reportedly been rolled into a bigger investigation that is looking into multiple aspects in the football program, reportedly including questions surrounding allegations of drug use by defensive coordinator Steve Belichick and questions about an allegation of a sexual relationship between a recruiting staffer and a player.

Steve Belichick, Bill’s son, is currently on medical leave. He came to North Carolina after his father was hired after a season as Washington’s defensive coordinator.
