Meet NASCAR’s New Danica Patrick (1:28)

A “big” change could be coming soon to 23XI Racing.

It’s been an up and down season for 23XI Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. Tyler Reddick is currently in sixth place, while Bubba Wallace is in 10th place. Riley Herbst, the third full-time Cup Series driver for 23XI Racing, is down in 32nd place.

23XI Racing entered the 2025 season hoping to contend for a championship, but that hasn’t happened.

NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck is considered by what he’s seeing from the Cup Series team.

“23XI, they’re weird, man. They’ve fallen off,” Gluck stated. “What’s up with that? I don’t get that at all. Reddick might’ve had the fastest car at Texas, he just never got the track position. But then he told me at Texas, ‘Oh yeah, I feel like what happens, the speed we’ll have at Texas will translate to Kansas, even though they’re different tracks,’ and then they just didn’t really show anything.

“I thought, you know, I guess Bubba was up there. When he had his issue, he was maybe sixth or something. He had a penalty and then he was gone, you know, which happens a lot these days, right? If you have a setback, you’re kind of done, unless it’s early in the race, then you could overcome it. But yeah, I mean, Reddick — we never really saw what we’d expect out of them, right? So, I don’t really know.”

A “big” change could be coming to 23XI Racing as a result of the struggles.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on the “Dale Jr. Download” that he believes 23XI Racing will end up getting rid of a driver. Cory Heim has been competing part-time for 23XI Racing in the Xfinity Series and the Cup Series. Dale Jr. believes that Heim will ultimately replace one of the three primary Cup Series drivers.

“The opinion is that there is a path there. The opinion, I think, in the Toyota camp, is very, very high on him. This truck thing is just a placeholder, a stop-gap, an opportunity for him to gain knowledge, race, gain race-craft. I don’t think his result this past weekend, good or bad, affects his future in any way. I think it’s there’s already motion in play, right? I can’t say what I think that is,” Earnhardt said, via On3.

“Is he going to push Riley [Herbst] out? What’s going to happen there? … Corey ain’t going to sit around forever. … I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in Riley’s car next year.”

There’s been a major push for Heim lately.

“We’ve been talking about Corey Heim. I have no idea why he’s still in the Truck Series,” Kevin Harvick recently said. “I know he has nowhere to go, but somebody better find somewhere for him to go. They better find somewhere for him to go in a much bigger capacity than, you know, the eight, 10, 12 races that might be possible in that Cup car next year.”

Given how they’ve performed, a major change would not be surprising.
