Terence Crawford called his shot. After spending the better part of the past two years hunting for a fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Crawford delivered on boxing’s biggest stage with a sensational, history-making performance, vaulting up two divisions and upsetting the face of boxing on Saturday night with a unanimous decision (116-112, 115-113, 115-113) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In doing so, Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) not only captures boxing’s undisputed super middleweight championship, he also becomes the first male boxer of the four-belt era to earn undisputed status in three different divisions. Crawford previously won undisputed titles at super lightweight and welterweight.

Crawford was a betting underdog on BetMGM coming into Saturday’s 168-pound bout, having only boxed above 147 pounds once in his professional career and having never boxed above 154 pounds. “Canelo,” on the other hand, was a perfect 11-0 in the super middleweight division prior to this weekend’s loss.

The historic result left many of Crawford’s peers in the combat sports world in awe, with several of his modern-era contemporaries like Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney hailing him as an all-time great.
