It is known that external noise has linked Barcelona defender Gerard Martin with a potential exit, especially in connection with Inter Milan.

The reality, however, is entirely different at Barcelona.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided clarity on the situation, highlighting the club’s strong support for the young defender.

Romano has stated that Barcelona are very happy with Gerard Martin and would like to keep him and even renew his contract.

He also addressed the growing speculation linking the defender to Inter, largely driven by profile similarities within their system, stating that there has been no real movement in this matter.

What’s the story?

This speculation largely comes from Barcelona’s well-known interest in Alessandro Bastoni. However, any suggestion of a player swap appears wide of the mark.

Overall, the feeling is that if Inter are to open the door for Bastoni, they would do it for a very significant financial offer.

Gerard Martin’s growth has been one of the quiet success stories of the campaign. Thrown into high-pressure situations, he has responded with maturity well beyond his experience.

He has stepped up this season and he has done so in a way that nobody expected.

Amidst his growing importance, interest across Europe has been brewing.

AC Milan are reportedly keeping a close eye on the defender, particularly impressed by his development this season. Even so, the player remains unfazed by the situation and is only focused on Barcelona.

Looking ahead, competition could intensify if Barcelona complete a move for Bastoni, which may alter the defensive hierarchy.

Still, Barcelona see Martin as part of the project, which is why they plan to renew his contract by offering better terms.
