With the summer coming to a close, only a few more seasons remain before the expected opening of The Patch in Spring 2026.

The Patch Project is a joint initiative established to strengthen the public golf scene in the Augusta area by redeveloping the Augusta Municipal Golf Course to promote further opportunities to both play the game and to work within the sport, led by Augusta National Golf Club. Financial and operational support has come by way of the Masters Tournament charities.

The initiative will link workforce programs at The Patch led by Augusta Tech with The First Tee’s overall mission to teach the game of golf, along with its values for generations to come. The Patch is set to provide an accessible and affordable public golf experience for the Augusta community.

Construction began in late March following an extensive cleanup after Hurricane Helene ravaged the area. Since mid-June, trucks full of sod have been arriving daily. During peak delivery, 12 trucks per day carrying 30-32 rolls of sod have been brought to the Patch with approximately 550 semis of sod being delivered in total. Sod transport will continue through early October.

Included in renovation was an installation of a new and modern pump that will service the entire property. Some parts of the course have already been completed. All of the turf on The Loop at The Patch (the short course designed by five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods) was completed on August 3, while the green sprigging was completed on August 5. By mid-October, the entirety of The Patch is expected to be fully grassed.

Construction of The Patch clubhouse, along with a modern on-course comfort station, will continue into 2026. More information about opening dates will be available in the coming months.

The full rate structure has not been finalized. However, a key goal of the project is to maintain affordability for Augusta locals. Similar to other courses in the area, The Patch will feature a different pricing structure during early April than the rest of the year.
