The Scouser will leave with the end of his contract, as confirmed last month. Alexander-Arnold’s decision was met with real heartbreak, even if virtually everyone saw it coming by that point.
The Reds have moved quickly to replace him, though. Jeremie Frimpong is on the verge of signing with Liverpool, having undergone a medical on Monday.
The Dutchman has a release clause in his contract, making the signing a mere formality at this point. Everyone wants it to happen – now we just wait.
But that’s not the only Alexander-Arnold replacement. The Reds have another and Arne Slot appears to have confirmed it.

Liverpool’s new vice-captain?
Mo Salah was named Liverpool captain on Monday as Virgil van Dijk started the trip to Brighton on the bench. With Alisson Becker also starting, it appears to be a quiet confirmation that the Egyptian will be the Reds’ new vice-captain.
The only other possible contender is Andy Robertson, though there are real doubts over his place as a first-choice option next season. Milos Kerkez is the favourite to arrive and Liverpool certainly want to sign a new left-back.
Salah is the obvious choice. A legendary player who has captained the Reds on several occasions. He’s the ideal fit to lead in Van Dijk’s absence, though there aren’t exactly many of those fixtures.
But certainly a deserved place for Salah, who almost certainly would have been named captain if Van Dijk had chosen to leave this summer. There won’t be a Liverpool fan who disagrees if this indeed is the choice.

We’d be shocked if it isn’t. Van Dijk and Salah are the perfect captains to lead this side over the next two years.
