Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Hakan Calhanoglu will finally be reuniting on the pitch for Inter Milan after their summer soap opera.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
It was a turbulent summer for Inter Milan’s squad.
At the centre of it was the transfer saga between midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu and Galatasaray.
For weeks, it was virtually football’s worst-kept secret that Galatassaray wanted to sign Calhanoglu. The rumours and reports about the Turkish champions’ interest popped up daily.
However, in the end, Galatasaray weren’t able to sign Calhanoglu. They were unwilling to offer anywhere near what Inter would have accepted.

In the meantime, though, the transfer rumours surrounding Calhanoglu clearly made some waves within the Inter squad.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez all but called Calhanoglu out.
Speaking frankly after Inter’s Club World Cup exit against Fluminense, the Argentine implored “whoever wants to leave, leave.”
Then, the following day Calhanoglu responded to Martinez’s comments with a social media post of his own. He not-so-subtly commented that “respect is a two-way street.”
Notably, Inter striker Marcus Thuram gave that post a like.
Clearly, Thuram was at least somewhat siding with Calhanoglu after Martinez’s frustrated outburst.
Reportedly, all three players have made peace. However, they have yet to take to the pitch together in Serie A.
That after Calhanoglu had missed Inter’s Serie A opener against Torino while serving a one-match suspension.
However, the Turkish international is now available. And he will reportedly start against Udinese tomorrow. As will Martinez and Thuram.
Therefore, tomorrow will be the first big test of whether these three key players for Inter can be on the same page after everything that happened during the summer.
