Despite the rumors that Texas quarterback Arch Manning is being hindered by a shoulder injury, one expert isn’t concerned.

NFL draft insider Todd McShay reported that Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian “debunked the theory” of Manning’s shoulder being hurt and said he “can confirm on good authority that Arch is healthy and that there’s nothing wrong with his shoulder.”

Manning’s health came into question once again after he struggled in Saturday’s 27-10 win over UTEP. He completed just 11 of his 25 passes for 114 yards, a touchdown and an interception while adding 51 rushing yards and two more scores. Through three games, he’s completed just 55.3 percent of his passes. Fans expressed concerns over his throwing mechanics after viral videos surfaced of him side-arming some of his passes.

If Manning isn’t dealing with a shoulder injury, McShay provided another theory as to what could be going wrong.

“When a quarterback is pressing, the game is moving faster in his mind, which can cause rushed mechanics and inaccurate passes,” McShay stated. “There’s no rhythm—it’s like watching a frustrated golfer swing or tracking the beats of a broken metronome.”

Manning will have a good chance to silence his critics this week, as Texas will face a winless Sam Houston State team at home on Saturday.
