Anthony Joshua will not return to the ring until December this year after he is set to undergo surgery on his elbow this month.

The two-time heavyweight champ said that he was “trying to get my body right” before making his comeback.

“I’ve got to have a little surgery on my elbow, a small surgery, sometime in May,” the 35-year-old Londoner explained to DAZN.

He continued to estimate, “That will see me out the gym for maybe six to eight weeks, and then, as soon as I’m healed, I’ll be back.”

This places his possible return to the gym for July at the earliest, which means his ring return won’t come until the last quarter of 2025.

AJ was ringside in Riyadh last weekend to watch Canelo vs William Scull.

His long-term promoter Eddie Hearn said in April that he is fully confident a fight between AJ and Tyson Fury could still happen.

Only last week, “The Gypsy King” revealed that he was back in the gym with trainer SugarHill Steward, causing strong rumours to circulate that the pair could finally be preparing to fight.

Both Brits are two-time world heavyweight champions and have been on a collision course for many years.

Many fight fans believe that, after both boxers lost to Oleksandr Usyk twice, that this is the only possible fight left for them in boxing, which would easily fill Wembley Stadium and make them more money than any other fight of their careers.

However, Fury and Joshua have both made it clear they would like to face Usyk in a trilogy fight.
