Wyndham Clark won the CJ CUP Byron Nelson on Sunday after a sparkling final round of 60 at TPC Craig Ranch.
Clark ended up winning the CJ CUP by three from Si Woo Kim as he returned to the PGA Tour winners’ circle for the first time since February 2024.

The 2023 U.S. Open champion has been in the golfing doldrums for far too long now.
However, Wyndham Clark reminded everyone just how good he is on Sunday at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Clark just missed out on the final group at the CJ Cup after his third-round 65, but that didn’t matter one little bit in the end.
His final-round 60 saw him run away with the tournament at TPC Craig Ranch.
However, he did receive strong criticism from some golf fans for his behavior midway through the final round on Sunday.

The golf that Clark produced on Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch was truly sensational.

However, his behavior on the ninth hole during the final round was questionable to say the least.
The 32-year-old found the fairway with his tee shot on the par five but his ball gathered some mud. He then asked an official for a free drop due to casual water.
However, there was no casual water in sight! The PGA Tour rules official told him the answer was no, before Clark asked for a second opinion from another official.
The answer once again was no. The whole ordeal took close to 10 minutes to get figured out, while Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim were forced to wait on the tee.

Numerous golf fans took to social media to criticize Clark for his poor behavior on the ninth hole.

“He’s so hateable without any of endearing qualities like other villains on the tour,“ one fan exclaimed.
Another said: “These guys would have a panic attack if they had to play on conditions us amateurs play on most of the time. Even at the best private clubs these guys would have something to moan about.“

And the comments kept coming, with fans saying, “Yeah I didn’t get this one at all, it was pretty obvious, he just didn’t want the mud ball I get it, but that’s tough,“ and, “What a tool and it’s amazing what they did to the Byron tourney. Such a joke of a course.“

Meanwhile, one fan didn’t mince his words whatsoever, saying: “Easily one of the Top 5 least popular players on tour….AND they’re playing a Champion’s Tour-level track! The greens are like velcro, no roll-out.“
One fan stated: “Can’t think of a more unlikeable player on tour other than Patrick Cantlay.“
While another golf fan fumed, “I’m at Craig Ranch and was literally 50 feet from this. I could have binge watched a season of Landman in the time this took. Ridiculous.“
Finally, another fan shared a really strong criticism of Clark, saying: “He represents everything WRONG with golf.“
All of those comments are absolutely spot on.
