Alex Fitzpatrick has never reached the level that his brother, Matt Fitzpatrick, has in the game.

However, it’s certainly not through a lack of trying, and Alex, the younger of the Fitzpatrick brothers, is beginning to forge a successful career of his own in the game.

At the end of last month, the 27-year-old Englishman won the second professional title of his career, and his first on the DP World Tour.

That victory came one week after Matt Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship and just three weeks before his older brother’s triumph at the RBC Heritage.

Now the two brothers are teeing it up on the PGA Tour together this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

What a thrill it must be for the Fitzpatricks to compete together on the PGA Tour as a team. Who knows, maybe one day they will be doing exactly that at the Ryder Cup.

Whether Alex Fitzpatrick would rather play with Matt at the Ryder Cup or win a major

Matt Fitzpatrick has urged the PGA Tour to include more team events on their schedule.

He absolutely loves playing at the Zurich Classic alongside his younger sibling.

And the same can be said for Alex.

When speaking on Trey Wingo’s Podcast on Wednesday, Fitzpatrick shared his dream of playing alongside Matt at the Ryder Cup.

“Yeah, for me, I don’t know what I’d pick more, whether playing with him in a Ryder Cup or winning a major.

“I think, for me, they’re side by side.

“You know, there are very few brothers that have played the Ryder Cup.

“I think it would be an amazing experience, especially a home event, to be able to do that.

“So yeah, it’s something you dream of and, you know, if I pull my finger out and play a little better, it might happen.

Matt Fitzpatrick on playing with his brother at the Ryder Cup

The four-time PGA Tour winner was asked how he feels about the prospect of playing alongside Alex at the Ryder Cup.

“Yeah it’d be incredible, the 32-year-old admitted.

“I’ve always meant to speak to Edoardo Molinari about how that was for him with Francesco.

“You know, even in September last year, being part of the winning team and, you know, winning as a partner with Tyrrell and winning as a partner with Ludvig.

“Those moments are special, so to be able to do that with my brother, I can’t imagine how good that would feel, too.”

If Alex Fitzpatrick manages to win a few times between now and the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027, he will definitely have a chance of making the team.

His brother, Matt, will almost certainly be there, so the onus is very much on Alex to perform.
