Alex Fitzpatrick walked into East Lake believing the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year race might come down to one week. Then he went out and supplied the cleanest closing argument.
“I would say maybe it all comes down to this week,” Fitzpatrick said before the Tour Championship. He was discussing Kristoffer Reitan, the one rookie whose season had stayed with his all the way to Atlanta.

Fitzpatrick finished tied for fourth at 11 under after a final-round 66, matching Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele for Sunday’s low round. Reitan finished 25th at 3 under. That eight-shot gap does not wipe out anything Reitan accomplished…
