Alejandro Tosti’s caddie quit mid-round during day one of the Biltmore Championship Asheville on Thursday.
Tosti ended up shooting a round of one-over par 72 on day one of the Biltmore Championship.

The Argentine’s caddie, Cliff Ellis, walked off the course on the 18th hole – their ninth of the day.
According to Golfweek, there was already friction between Tosti and his caddie earlier in the week during the build-up to the Biltmore Championship Asheville.
And Ellis clearly had enough midway through Tosti’s opening round on Thursday.

The 30-year-old from Argentina actually thought Cliff Ellis was taking a mid-round bathroom break before he realized his caddie had actually quit.
And now he has offered a light-hearted take on what occurred at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove on Thursday.

Tosti spoke with Golfweek about the incident and responded when asked what happened.
He said: “He couldn’t keep up with eight pars in a row,” followed by numerous laughing emojis.
Tosti is clearly not too worried about his caddie departing mid-round. Maybe confrontation with his caddies is something that the Argentine become got used to over the years.

Tosti has a seriously fiery temper and has caused issues with his playing partners and his caddies in the past.
He repeatedly shouted expletives at his caddie, Ray Yoel, during a Korn Ferry Tour event in 2023.

The South American is known for switching caddies more often than most.
Tosti was involved in a confrontation with Min Woo Lee last year in Houston when he complained about the Australian’s pace of play.
The Argentine was also suspended during the Korn Ferry Tour playoffs in 2023 after numerous “expletive-filled outbursts” aimed at both players and rules officials.
Interestingly, Alejandro Tosti is actually known for being a really kind person away from tournament play, but his character completely changes when he is competing.
