De Vrij refused to hide his excitement after the win.
“It was very important to win and get results after two tough defeats,” he said.
“The performances had been there, but we needed to improve. Today we did well to take the lead, read the game, and understand what it demanded.
“We won without suffering too much; well done to us.”
Asked what impressed him more – performance or the result, De Vrij replied: “Both. The better you play, the easier it is to get the result.
“We always try to stick to our principles. Today, we also did well not to concede.
“They had one chance on the counter, but apart from that, I don’t recall many big opportunities.
