Following the Las Vegas Aces winning their third WNBA championship in the past four years, head coach Becky Hammon paid superstar center A’ja Wilson the ultimate compliment.

Speaking to reporters after the Aces beat the Phoenix Mercury 97-86 in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Friday to complete the sweep, Hammon hyped up the four-time WNBA MVP, saying, “You have your Mount Rushmore, she’s alone on Everest. There’s no one around.”

Wilson was spectacular in Friday’s clincher, leading all scorers with 31 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals.

Overall, Wilson averaged 28.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game during the Finals, earning her the second WNBA Finals MVP of her already legendary career.

Wilson is only the sixth player to win multiple WNBA Finals MVP Awards, and her four WNBA MVP Awards are the most in league history.

While much of the focus entering the 2025 season was on newcomers such as second-year players Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, and rookie Paige Bueckers, Wilson proved once again why she is the best player in the league and in the conversation as being the best player of all time.

Hammon also expressed her belief that the Aces are one of the greatest franchises in WNBA history, and it is difficult to argue with her assessment.

By beating the Mercury, they became only the second team ever to win three or more WNBA titles in a four-year span, joining the Houston Comets, who won the first four WNBA championships.

It hasn’t been a one-woman show either, as Wilson got plenty of help from a strong supporting cast including Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young, among others.

However, there is no doubt that the Aces go as Wilson goes, which is why they figure to continue to be among the top championship contenders next year and beyond.
