The International Break is behind us and the Serie A is finally back. After three weeks, we’re back at San Siro for AC Milan v Bologna, a match which had an impact on us last season. In the league, we won, but then three days later, Bologna beat us in the Coppa Italia final. For this reason, the Rossoneri are certainly looking to bounce back. The team has changed a lot since 14 May, exactly four months ago, with Massimiliano Allegri in charge. He will be the one who will try to guide the team to a win, with a reinforced team (compared to the away trip to Lecce) Nkunku, Rabiot and Odogu. The teams will be in action in at the San Siro at 20:45 CEST, here’s our Preview.

LATEST FROM MILANELLO The break has evidently influenced the work undertaken by the team over the past two weeks, but it has allowed for the new arrivals to be welcomed. Said arrivals will be available for the matchday 3 clash. Unfortunately, Rafa Leão has not fully recovered from his muscular problem and will not feature during the match. Jashari will also be out. Luka Modrić will definitely be there, having celebrated his 40th birthday this week surrounded by the team. It’s possible that Coach Allegri makes some changes given the amount of minutes that some players played during the break. Santiago Gimenez is expected to lead the attack, following his goal for Mexico against South Korea.

Coach Allegri spoke on the eve of the match, in his press conference: “We’re playing against Bologna in a match that we need to win. We need to start winning at home, it won’t be easy. It’s our second home game, we lost to Cremonese by conceding avoidable goals, and tomorrow we have to do our absolute best. We’re working well, and the players are focussed, we want to work and improve”.

LATEST FROM BOLOGNA Bologna have the same points as us following their opening day defeat to Roma, but then beat Como at home thanks to the winning goal from Orsolini. Vincenzo Italiano‘s side underwent major changes in the summer, having lost Ndoye, Beukema, Erlic and then Aebischer. However, they bought in reinforcements, such as Immobile, Bernardeschi, Vitík, Heggem, Sulemana, Rowe and Zortea. They will be missing Pobega, Immobile, Sulemana, Casale and Holm.

Vincenzo Italiano spoke in his press conference: “We got a great result against Como, despite a performance that we can definitely improve on. AC Milan are our opponents tomorrow, they’re not fighting in Europe so will have full concentration on the league. We will need to play well to take points at San Siro. We’re growing, and we will try to show this”.

  • AC Milan are unbeaten in 18 out of their 19 matches against Bologna in the Serie A (14 wins, four draws), scoring 38 goals in the same time (exactly 2.5 per match); the only win for Bologna against the Rossoneri came on 27 February, last season (2-1 at the Dall’Ara).
  • AC Milan (22) and Bologna (18) are two of the three sides (alongside Atalanta, 20) to have gained the most points from losing positions in the Serie A, since the beginning of last season.
  • Two of the three goals scored by AC Milan in the past two matches came from headers. Only two, from the previous 25 before these, came from this method. However, on the other hand, none of the last 15 goals conceded by Bologna in the league have come from aerial play (the last was from Roberto Piccoli in March against Cagliari).
  • Massimiliano Allegri is the Coach that has given Adrien Rabiot his highest number of appearances (94). Allegri is also the Coach that has seen Rabiot score the most goals in the Serie A and Ligue 1 (13).
