The New York Jets seemed to be on their way to yet another loss after a sluggish first half saw them trailing the Houston Texans heading into the fourth quarter on Thursday.

In desperate need of a touchdown on third-and-long, Aaron Rodgers threw a ball toward Garrett Wilson in the endzone that seemed uncatchable, even for a player of Wilson’s caliber. Somehow, the receiver came down with the ball with a spectacular one-handed grab that gave New York a 14-10 lead.

It was more than just another highlight for Wilson. It was a game-changing—perhaps even season-changing—play for the Jets, according to Rodgers.

“I didn’t do a whole lot when it comes down to it,” Rodgers said. “I just kind of lobbed one up there and he made an unbelievable catch… That was a huge play. The first one was a huge play as well… But that was a game-changing play.”

Wilson accounted for the Jets’ first two touchdowns of the game. His first came in the third quarter when he hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass, which was also a one-handed grab.

Wilson finished with nine receptions for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His new teammate Davante Adams sealed the game with a touchdown late in the fourth and finished with seven receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets came into Thursday’s matchup having lost five straight, their playoff hopes dwindling with each loss. They still have a mountain to climb to get back into the playoff picture, but momentum is on their side now, thanks in large part to Wilson’s unbelievable catch.
