John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg have been fixtures of the Laver Cup, captaining Team World and Team Europe respectively since the event started in 2017.

Who are the Laver Cup team captains?
For the first time after seven editions of the Laver Cup, new captains have been appointed in 2025 after Bjorn Borg (Europe) and John McEnroe (World) stepped down. They were the leaders from 2017-24.
Eight-time grand slam champion Andre Agassi will lead Team World, while 1983 French Open title winner Yannick Noah is the skipper of Team Europe.
While there was previously a long-term commitment for Borg and McEnroe to be captains, it is not yet known whether Agassi and Noah will continue beyond this Laver Cup.
Why are Andre Agassi and Yannick Noah Laver Cup captains?
It was decided prior to the seventh edition of the Laver Cup in 2024 that McEnroe and Borg would step down, and they have been replaced by Agassi and Noah for 2025.
McEnroe and Borg were the inaugural captains of Team World and Team Europe for the debut Laver Cup in 2017, and they followed up at the six editions after that.
At Laver Cup 2024 in Berlin, Agassi and Noah were both part of the formalities.
Agassi has coaching experience with Novak Djokovic from 2017-18 and Grigor Dimitrov between 2018-20.
Noah has won three Davis Cups as French team captain but has also been the skipper of France’s Billie Jean King and Fed Cup teams.

Andre Agassi career bio
Agassi was initially the second player in the Open Era to win a career Grand Slam, joining Rod Laver by winning the French Open in 1999.
Three players have joined that pair since — Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic.
Agassi is one of three players to win all four majors and Olympic gold — a Golden Slam — during his career alongside Nadal and Djokovic.
He claimed eight grand slam titles, including four in Australia, two at the US Open and victories at the French Open and Wimbledon.
That propelled the American to world No.1 for 101 weeks, helped by 60 ATP titles, which included 17 Masters triumphs, and three Davis Cup titles.
Yannick Noah career bio
While Noah doesn’t have the same playing accolades of Agassi, he is still a grand slam champion, having won at the 1983 French Open.
He was the last Frenchman to win at Roland Garros and his victory in 1983 made him the first home player to achieve the feat since 1946.
Noah reached a career-high ranking of world No.3 and across his two-decade career he won 23 singles and 16 doubles title.
He also captained France to Davis Cup titles in 1991, 1996 and 2017, while also leading his nation to their first Fed Cup triumph in 1997.

Each day, three singles matches and one doubles match are played, to the best of three sets, with the last being disputed as a 10-point tie-break match format.
A team wins by reaching 13 points. Friday’s wins are worth one point, Saturday’s two points and Sunday’s three points — which ensures that no team can become champion before the last day.
If the competition is tied after 12 matches, a final overtime doubles match is played.
All players play at least one singles match between Friday and Saturday and at least four of them participate in doubles.
If only one match is required to win on Sunday, an exhibition match will be played following the trophy ceremony.
