The world’s No. 1 player will be back to defend his title at the Travelers Championship this summer. Scottie Scheffler has committed to the event in June, the tournament announced Tuesday.

Scheffler held off Tom Kim to win the Travelers in a playoff last season, finishing 22-under par. The 28-year-old has made two starts on the PGA Tour so far this season, finishing tied for ninth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He’s had mixed results at the Travelers, missing the cut in 2020 and finishing tied for 47th in 2021, before tying for 13th in 2022, tying for fourth in 2023 and winning last season.

Scheffler has won 13 times on the PGA Tour for his career, including two wins at the Masters (2022, 2024).

“I can’t think of a better way to start our 2025 player commitments than to announce that our defending champion and the top-ranked golfer in the world intends to play in our event this year,” Travelers Executive Vice President Andy Bessette said in a release. “Scottie is a once-in-a-generation talent who is as composed off the course as he is on. It will be another exciting year watching him tee it up against the best players on the PGA Tour to try to defend his title at this year’s Travelers Championship.”

The Travelers will once again be a Signature Event in 2025, meaning the field will consist of many of the sport’s top players with no cut and a $20 million total purse, with $3.6 million to the winner.
