And just like that, Tiger Woods has reversed himself.

Woods, who announced last week he would make his 2025 PGA Tour debut at the Genesis Invitational — the Tour Signature Event he hosts — has now said he will not play at the Torrey Pines Golf Club this week because this game isn’t ready for that kind of competition and that was still dealing with the loss of his mother Kultida Woods, who passed away last week.

”I planned to tee it up this week but I’m just not ready,” he said in a statement posted on X. “I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted but I’m still processing her loss.

”Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciated the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”

Woods played in five tournaments last year and had back surgery after the British Open. He played in the PNC Championship with his son Charley in December (finishing second to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason) and has played in the TGL, the indoor virtual golf league he created with Rory McIlroy.

On Sunday Woods played golf with his son and President Donald Trump, before the President flew to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.

The Genesis Invitational was moved from the Riviera Country Club to Torrey Pines because of the Los Angeles wildfires.
