Robert Thomas matched the second-fastest goal in St. Louis Blues history when he scored nine seconds in Wednesday against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.
Thomas, who returned to action four weeks after fracturing his right ankle Oct. 22, scored on a one-timer from the left circle off a pass from Pavel Buchnevich past Jacob Markstrom to give the Blues a 1-0 lead:
The goal matches a feat accomplished by Rob Ramage on Jan. 24, 1987 against the Detroit Red Wings and Andy McDonald Nov. 24, 2010 against the Nashville Predators.
The Blues’ record is eight seconds done twice by Greg Paslawski Oct. 29, 1985 against the Washington Capitals and Alexander Steen March 16, 2010 against the Colorado Avalanche.
The Blues won the game 3-0.
