Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan wasn’t ready to declare Will Levis as the team’s long-term franchise quarterback just yet, but he is encouraged by the 25-year-old’s progress and believes there are good things to come.
“I hesitate to make any proclamations or anything like that,” Callahan told reporters Monday when asked if Levis is the long-term solution at the position. “But I’ve just been really happy with the way Will has progressed. He’s played winning football from that position, really over the last three weeks, and I’d like to see it continue.”

He continued, praising Levis for his development and adding, “yeah. I think everything he’s done. The progression he’s shown, the growth he’s shown is really encouraging. I’d like to keep it going, I think there’s another level we can get to and unlock for him.”
It was easy to wonder how limited the 2023 second-round pick’s ceiling was early in the season when he had four touchdown passes to six interceptions through the first four games. He also had a number of high-profile mistakes such as flicking the ball to the sidelines for a game-losing interception in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.
Some of those mistakes and his reactions to them made him a social-media sensation:
Yet Levis has looked like a much better quarterback since returning from a three-game absence that was due to a shoulder injury.
He has six touchdown passes to three interceptions in the last four games and just led the Titans to a road win over the AFC South-leading Houston Texans. That came after he threw for a season-high 295 yards against a formidable Minnesota Vikings defense the prior week.
Levis is under contract through the 2026 season, so the Titans don’t need to decide he is their long-term franchise quarterback in the immediate future. Instead, they can continue evaluating his play and hoping the improvement continues as the campaign progresses.
