The New York Giants lost their sixth straight game on Sunday, this time without former starting quarterback Daniel Jones.

When discussing the differences between the Giants and the New York Jets at 3-8, an opposing coach only brought up the team’s Super Bowl victories during the 2007 and 2011 seasons.

“The difference is, the Giants have won championships and have done so most recently (2007, 2011), so they have the most credibility capital to burn,” the coach told Mike Sando of The Athletic. “That is all. They are burning through it.”

Jones was benched by New York before meeting with team president John Mara and requesting to be released by the team.

While backup Tommy DeVito didn’t enter the starting role with high expectations, the Giants struggled mightily with him under center during a lopsided 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

DeVito finished 21-of-31 for 189 yards, but most of his production occurred after the game was out of hand. New York was only able to muster 45 total yards on offense in the first half and trailed 30-0 before putting points on the board in the fourth quarter.

After the game, standout rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers discussed his frustration with the team’s poor offensive output and wasn’t willing to place the blame on the quarterback.

The Giants currently own the NFL’s worst scoring offense, recording 14.8 points per game. In fact, no other team in the league is averaging below 16 points per game.

All signs point towards New York missing the playoffs for a second consecutive season under head coach Brian Daboll and the organization may slowly be losing credibility as a result.
