How to practice smokes in CS2

Knowing smoke grenade lineups in CS2 separates you from everyone else on the server, allowing you to run different strategies on the fly. But to memorize the lineups, you need to save some time to practice smokes.

The best way to practice smokes in CS2 is to create a private dedicated server. If you’re tired of missing your smokes in CS2, here’s how to get better at it.

How to set up a private server to practice smokes in CS2

Setting up a private server to practice smokes in CS2 is the best method for training your grenade-throwing techniques on any map. If you don’t want to mess with the console, CS2 has some options you can set up from the get-go:

1. Run CS2.
2. Click on Play and then Practice.
3. Choose Casual.
4. Turn on the extra options: Infinite Ammo, Infinite Warmup, and Grenade Camera.

These options don’t include most of the actions you can cover with console commands, so let’s look at all you can do via the console.

The best smoke practice commands in CS2

The best smoke practice commands in CS2 require you to open the console so you can input them as follows:

• sv_cheats 1: Turn cheats on, making all the commands work.
• bot_kick: Remove all bots.
• mp_warmup_end: Ends warm-up period.
• mp_freezetime 0: Sets freezetime to zero.
• mp_roundtime 60: The round will last one hour.
• mp_maxmoney 60000: Allows players to have $60,000 in-game and buy everything.
• mp_startmoney 60000: Gives you $60,000 right in the first round
• sv_infinite_ammo 1: Infinite ammo for weapons, including grenades.
• sv_showimpacts 1: Shows bullet impacts.
• sv_showimpacts_time 10: Extends the visibility of your bullet impacts for 10 seconds.

To practice smokes in CS2, you need to create a dedicated server, input the above commands, and then throw your grenades.

The new Practice feature lets you see where the grenade will land, saving you a lot of time, as shown in the video below. You no longer have to keep trying so many times until you’ve nailed it.
