Donald Trump will be in attendance at the Presidents Cup this week, watching the likes of Patrick Cantlay and the rest of the United States team battle the Internationals at Medinah.
President Trump has made a habit of attending golfing events over the past year.

Of course, the 47th president of the United States made the trip to Bethpage Black last year to watch the Ryder Cup.
Most recently, Donald Trump attended the Irish Open at his golf complex in Doonbeg, Ireland.
Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy commented on Trump’s attendance at the Irish Open, with both players sharing their approval.
Now Patrick Cantlay has given his honest opinion on the prospect of Trump attending the Presidents Cup at Medinah this week.
Patrick Cantlay says whether he wants Donald Trump to attend the Presidents Cup
Cantlay addressed the media on Wednesday ahead of the Presidents Cup at Medinah this week.

It is common practice for Presidents of the United States to attend the biennial tournament.
And Cantlay responded when he was asked to share his thoughts on Trump coming to view the action at Medinah.

“Yeah, I think it would be great to have the President out and hopefully gets the crowd going. I’m expecting the crowd to be loud and behind us this week and that’s what makes playing home team events so fun,“ Cantlay said.
“I met him for the first time at the Walker Cup at Royal Aberdeen in 2011 and ran into him a few times since.
“Obviously he wasn’t really a political figure in 2011. So I just, I know he’s been a golf fan forever and obviously a huge supporter of the United States golf and the team events. So it’s great to have him on our side.“

What other US players have said about Donald Trump attending the Presidents Cup
Xander Schauffele is a big fan of Trump coming to watch the United States team compete.
“Yeah. He made a guest appearance at Bethpage as well,” Schauffele said.
“I’m sure Secret Service wasn’t pumped that he made an early announcement on where he’s going to be (laughter). But they’ll do a nice job of keeping him safe. But, yeah, it’s awesome that our president loves golf and supports the USA.”
Meanwhile, Sam Burns echoed a similar sentiment.
“Yeah, I think for me personally, anyone who’s the president of this country, I respect that position, obviously,” Burns said.

“I’ve actually got to spend some time with President Trump, and we’ve played golf together a few times.
“I think you just have a ton of respect for that position, and being an American, I think it’s very important that we do support our president, regardless of your political views.
“I think if you look at our country now, it seems more divided than ever, and hopefully we can get back to the point where all Americans come together, and we’re all trying to kind of reach the same goal.”
Chris Gotterup shared his views on the matter as well.
“Yeah, I think everyone, you know, whoever the President is, if they care enough to come watch us play golf, that’s pretty cool,” he said.
“So I know we’re excited, and we’re going to go try to put on a good performance for everyone.”
