The Quiet Please Golf Podcast is joining Athlon Sports, pairing our weekly live roundtable with next-day articles and clips for Athlon’s golf audience.
The show will continue to air live on Tuesday or Wednesday each week. Athlon will publish coverage the following day, then develop clips and follow-up stories from what happens at the table. Distribution through Athlon’s social channels and YouTube is expected to follow as the rollout develops.

Nothing changes for people who already follow the show. The live broadcast will remain on the Quiet Please YouTube and social channels and the podcast website will continue to carry the listening links. Athlon comes in afterward, when one part of the discussion is worth developing into a clip or a story.
For me, it also connects two parts of the week that have operated separately. I cover golf as Athlon’s senior golf writer. On Quiet Please, I can put a subject in front of four people who entered the business through different doors and listen for the point I might have missed on my own.
We discussed the partnership during this week’s episode, Equipment Wars, Presidents Cup & LIV 2.0. Allen DePuy, Christian Nizamis and I paused the tournament and equipment talk long enough to explain the plan. The subjects surrounding the announcement were a useful sample of what the show does: one conversation can move from competition to equipment rules to the business decisions underneath both.

A 20 Year Path From AM990 to Athlon
Quiet Please traces its start to March 2006, when GolfTalk Live debuted on Philadelphia’s AM990. The original show covered golf news, destinations, instruction and the people whose work kept the game moving. Its name and distribution changed over the next two decades, but that range survived.
Reading down the leaderboard has never been our format. A Presidents Cup pairing gives us somewhere to begin. From there, the discussion can move into why the pairing works, what a player is managing or where equipment fits into the week. With a business story, I want to know what the decision means for the golfer writing the check and the PGA professional who has to make it work at a facility.

Allen and Christian were already part of the program before Bob Baldassari, Andy Hydorn and I joined them. The panel developed in stages, which helps explain why it does not sound like five people hired to fill predetermined roles. Each person arrived with his own history in the game and enough overlap to challenge someone else’s reading of a subject.
Five Hosts Who Do Not See the Same Game
Allen’s background in course operations, acquisitions, consulting and property turnarounds keeps the golf business grounded in the daily choices required to operate a facility. Bob brings years of player-development and facility leadership, including his work at the PGA of America helping build PGA Jr. League, Drive, Chip & Putt and PGA Junior Golf Camps.

Andy can approach the same topic through equipment, apparel, technology and competitive golf. His background includes Callaway Golf, Back 9 USA, Ikonik Golf and Sportsbox AI, and he was the 2025 Texas Golf Association Senior Player of the Year. Christian played Division I golf at Niagara University and brings a sales and marketing background, along with the dry humor that regular viewers expect when Allen’s golf game enters the discussion.
I tend to picture the golfer standing in front of me. What does an equipment ruling change in a fitting? How does a tour story affect the question a parent asks before registering a child for a program? Three decades of teaching players and running facilities have trained me to follow the subject down to those practical decisions.
That is what I bring to Quiet Please. Allen may hear an operations problem in the same subject. Andy can take us into the equipment side, Bob into player development and Christian into how an idea is presented or sold. Some topics are settled quickly. Others get pulled apart because one of us keeps pushing from his corner of the game.

The Work Begins After the Live Show
A live golf show can disappear quickly in a crowded week. A tournament begins, a ruling changes, or another story takes over the feed. Athlon’s role begins with the work after the recording: deciding what deserves a story, more reporting or a clip.
The next-day article can isolate the strongest part of a discussion and add the reporting or context that an unscripted exchange cannot carry by itself. Short clips can put one sharp point in front of viewers who were not present for the full show. A separate story can pursue a question that was raised but not settled on air.

Quiet Please is the first of several golf shows planned for Athlon’s digital golf lineup. I am developing additional 30-minute programs for the coming weeks, with more voices and formats to be introduced as those plans are completed. The live Quiet Please schedule, the panel and the places where current listeners find the show will remain in place.
Some weeks, a clip will be enough. On others, one of the guys will catch a part of the story I missed and send me back to the keyboard. We will find out after the next live show.
