Brandt Snedeker already faces criticism from US golf fans before the Presidents Cup even starts, ‘it’s a joke’

Brandt Snedeker is already feeling the heat with the Presidents Cup now just three days away.

Snedeker made his captain’s picks at the start of September.

While you can’t please everyone, the 46-year-old seems to be getting more criticism than most for some of his selections.

Brandt Snedeker named Jackson Koivun as part of his team despite the fact that the youngster has played just a handful of PGA Tour events as a professional.

He also picked players such as Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay who have displayed fairly poor form in 2026.

However, it seems as though Snedeker’s most controversial Presidents Cup decision was leaving J.J. Spaun off the team.

Spaun discussed his Presidents Cup omission on Sunday after his win at the BMW PGA Championship in England.

The 36-year-old American was clearly not overly impressed with the way that Snedeker handled things.

“Sneds called me Monday morning, and just landed to Phoenix,“ he said.

“It was like a 45-second phone call. Just said I wasn’t on the team, and said I was the odd man out and I wished him luck and that was it.“

Snedeker has been absolutely hammered by some golf fans for his decision not to include Spaun in his Presidents Cup team.

“Justin Thomas who hasn’t won anything in years was selected over him. It’s a boys club and this is why Europe continues to dominate,“ one US golf fan exclaimed.

Meanwhile, others echoed similar sentiments.

“Justin Thomas is on the team? Give me a break. That guy does nothing out there. It’s a joke.“

“He’s not in the old boys club. I’d hate to play against his short game in match play so he’d be a great pick.“
