NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series driver Jeb Burton stopped by The Jones Report this week for a sit-down with NASCAR Roundtable publisher Tyler Jones, and he didn’t sugarcoat where things stand.
Burton currently sits 21st in the points standings after a solid 10th-place finish last weekend in St. Louis. This Friday night he’ll be back in the No. 27 Sprayway Chevrolet for Jordan Anderson Racing in the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, and he’s hoping to build on the momentum from World Wide Technology Raceway.

“It’s a short track and it is fast. I just really enjoy going there,” Burton said. “Very exciting, all the fans. Looking forward to putting on a good show for Sprayway on Friday night.”
The Bristol date carries extra weight because of the sponsor. Sprayway has a group of employees and guests coming to the race, and Burton wants to deliver for them after the strong run in St. Louis.
“Got a bunch of employees and different people coming on their side,” he said. “We had a good run last weekend in St. Louis and want to carry over that momentum into Bristol.”

The rest of the 2026 season has been a mixed bag. Burton’s best finish came early — a seventh at Phoenix in week four — but consistency has been hard to find. He didn’t hide his frustration.
“It has been a frustrating year,” Burton said. “I felt like we were going to be better this year than we were last year. I feel like we’ve had some more learning curves to deal with. We’ve had some good runs, just haven’t had the consistency we would have liked.”
The team is trying to correct that. They’re putting more time into the simulator program, and after the interview with NASCAR Roundtable on Wednesday, Burton headed straight to the Jordan Anderson Racing shop to prepare for both Bristol and the upcoming race at Las Vegas.
Racing runs deep in the Burton family. His dad, Ward, won the Daytona 500 in 2002. His uncle Jeff was recently voted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s 2027 class. And Jeb gets to line up against his cousin Harrison on a regular basis in the O’Reilly Series.

“All four of us have won in the O’Reilly Series, so that’s a pretty cool feat that we’ve all done that,” Jeb said. “I got a lot of gas left in the tank and wanna keep trying to make my family proud.”
Having Jeff Burton in the family also means the broadcast booth isn’t off-limits for feedback. Jeff has been one of the lead analysts of NBC and USA’s coverage since 2014. When Jeb is watching races at home, he’s not shy about letting his uncle know what he thinks.
“One race they didn’t even show the rundown and I’m like, ‘Man y’all gotta fix that because I didn’t even know where people finished cause y’all were too busy jibberjabbering,'” he said with a laugh.
With only seven races left in the season, the focus is on finishing strong. Burton enters Friday night’s race at Bristol still looking for his first win since April 2023 — a winless streak that has stretched to 105 races. Ending that drought at a place like Bristol would be a big moment for him and the No. 27 team.
