After a long, hot summer, the return of Pittsburgh Penguins hockey is just days away with training set to open this Thursday at the UPMC Lemieux complex in Cranberry. There will be just three days of practice for the Penguins before preseason action opens a week from today, September 21st, against the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena. There will the three more preseason games to follow before the regular season gets underway on September 30th with the Penguins heading across the state to take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
In preparation for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign, The Skating Penguin Network, hosted by Robbie and Snail, dusted off the microphones and recorded their first (pre) preseason episode last week, catching up on some news from around the NHL.

Robbie and Snail discussed the ongoing trade request situations coming out of Detroit and Winnipeg, touched on the prospects challenge taking place this past weekend, talked training camp and the preseason, tried to figure out where summer went, and much more.
This was their first episode since July, meaning there was a lot of ground to cover even though it was a relatively quite summer from the Penguins and most of the NHL if we’re being honest.
With hockey season coming quickly, episodes will be dropping more frequently in the run up to the 2026-27 which begins at the end of the month. Once puck drops, Robbie and Snail will be back to a regular schedule of recapping games and covering any news surrounding the Penguins or hockey in general.
Below you will find a link to the show and all episodes that will be updated as they are published. This show is the rebranded Pensburgh podcast that went independent a few years ago and we appreciate all who listen and encourage any one else to jump on board for the new season.
