It didn’t take long for Viggo Björck to make his presence felt in a Winnipeg Jets sweater.

The eighth-overall selection from the 2026 NHL Draft found the back of the net in his first game with the organization Saturday, opening the scoring against the Montreal Canadiens’ prospects at the 2026 Prospect Challenge in Gatineau, Quebec.

Björck’s first-period marker came during 4-on-4 action alongside fellow first-rounder Brayden Yager. The two youngsters combined on a slick sequence that ended with Björck finding the back of the net for his first unofficial goal as a member of the Jets.

It was exactly the type of play Winnipeg hoped to see from the highly skilled Swedish centre, who arrived in Canada with plenty of attention surrounding him following a whirlwind 2025-26 season.

Despite standing just 5-foot-9, Björck has continually shown an ability to create offence against older and larger competition.
