Who are the British players in the NFL?

There are currently two British players with NFL teams heading into the 2026 season.

Offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor is one of them, getting ready for his 10th season in the NFL since making his debut. It will be his third as part of the New York Giants.

The other is tight end Seydou Traore, who is set to make his NFL debut this term after being selected by the Miami Dolphins in this year’s NFL draft.

Mapalo Mwansa, a linebacker with the Carolina Panthers, is on the the side’s practice squad for this season.

There has been a number of recent departures by British players from the league during the off-season break.

Kicker Graham Gano and punter Jamie Gillan had both been at the Giants with Eluemunor. Both have since departed. Gillan has however recently been training with the New England Patriots.

Defensive end Julian Okwara has been released by the Cleveland Browns. Travis Clayton, also a defensive end, has been released by the Buffalo Bills.

David Ojabo, who had been playing as a linebacker for the Dolphins, has also been waived.

Experienced defensive end Efe Obada, who had been on stage as part of Traore’s selection by the Dolphins during the draft, has now retired.

Another Briton, Aden Durde, is the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.

What about Ireland?

There are two Irish players with NFL teams, although one of them is on a practice squad.

Green Bay Packers punter Daniel Whelan is Irish and remains in their main squad for the 2026 season.

Kicker Charlie Smyth has recently been released by the New Orleans Saints. They have since re-signed him for their practice squad.

Another kicker Mark McNamee and place-kicker Jude McAtamney, who had been in practice squads last season with the Packers and the Giants respectively, are now playing in Canada.
