Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs) brings her WBC and WBA belts to the table, with Cameron the WBO champion. The Ring Magazine belt is also on the line for a showdown to decide the premier fighter in the 154-pound division, albeit with the contest taking place at a 148-pound catchweight.
A largely respectful build-up disintegrated at Friday’s weigh-in, where the pair butted heads and Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) angrily snapped back at the American’s goading.
“She isn’t intimidating me,” Cameron said after security separated the boxers. “All that yapping and getting in my face — just watch tomorrow. You’re going to get humbled.”
Promoters MVP have put together a card pitting US fighters against UK contemporaries, and Britain’s WBC and WBA lightweight champion Caroline Dubois (13-0-1, 5 KOs) defends her belts against Amelia Moore (4-0, 1 KO) in the chief support bout.
