If LIV Golf folds, it won’t have too much of an effect on players at the top of the PGA Tour hierarchy.
Yes, the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy will have players like Jon Rahm to contend with when fighting for wins, but their PGA Tour survival will be far from threatened by the arrival of former LIV players.

The ones really affected are those further down the standings, fighting week in, week out just to make it into PGA Tour fields. If LIV players return, there will be less space for them to play on the PGA Tour, which threatens their ability to retain their tour cards.
Among those players is Blades Brown, who, in an exclusive with HITC, revealed how he really feels about the potential of LIV players returning to the PGA Tour.

Blades Brown says how he feels about LIV players returning to the PGA Tour
Brown has been playing on both the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour in 2026 as he looks to secure his full-time tour card for next season. After an incredible season from the 19-year-old, Brown looks likely to have accomplished this.

He’s done it the hard way, having to fight his way through Monday qualifiers to get into Korn Ferry Tour events, so Brown knows exactly how difficult it is to earn a spot in professional tournaments.
With that said, he said he’d be happy to compete against LIV players should they return to the PGA Tour. He told HITC: “I actually have a couple of buddies on LIV. Caleb Surratt- I’m excited to see what he does. I think he might go the DP World Tour route.
“I’ve gotten to talk to Jon Rahm; he’ll probably be playing on the PGA Tour here pretty soon.
“I think good golf takes care of everything. The best players in the world are going to be playing in one spot, and their golf is going to determine what that does. I don’t have an opinion on that.

“I hope one day everyone can play on one tour, the PGA Tour, just because I think that’s how it should be, just because I think the PGA Tour is where the best players play. So, that’s kind of where I stand.”
Blades Brown excited by ‘phenomenal’ PGA Tour changes
Brown is a young talent expected to be on the PGA Tour for many years. Few will be more affected by the changes the PGA Tour is introducing in 2028.
The PGA Tour will be split into two tracks, with promotion and relegation between them, and will be shortened to around 20 events, all of equal value. There will be no more elevated Signature Events as we have in the current format.

The most exciting thing for Brown is that there will be fewer events, so more time for downtime in the offseason.
He said, “I think the new organization is probably going to be good. I’m glad there’s going to be an offseason on the PGA Tour. I think that’s one thing that’s overlooked.
“Especially this year, since I had status on the Korn Ferry and PGA Tour, I essentially had two jobs. I was speaking to my mum, and she asked, ‘Do you guys have an offseason?’ And I said, ‘Nah, we’re playing golf year-round!’
“I’m just extremely excited to be playing on the PGA Tour coming up soon.”

It was also reported that the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour are working together to create a global series, which would create around 10 events around the world. That also interests Brown.
He continued, “I think that is a phenomenal idea. I want to play against the best players in the world, and the PGA Tour provides that opportunity for so many players.
“But the best players in the world- that’s not just the United States; that’s everywhere. I think it’s very important to have every single flavor of person playing in a PGA Tour event or wherever it may be.”
It doesn’t matter where or who against; Brown just wants to compete. That’s a trait that will serve him well throughout his career.
