Bowman Gray Stadium will host a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in 2027. The historic North Carolina short track has hosted the pre-season Clash exhibition race with the NASCAR Cup Series for the past two years, but it hasn’t been the site of points-paying national-level NASCAR race since 1971. The Clash is set to move back to Daytona next year.

The Trucks have never raced at the 0.250-mile Bowman Gray Stadium, and it’s going to be quite the spectacle. While no format has been specified, the track is too small to accommodate a full field of 36 trucks, so it’s likely that heat races or something similar will be utilized to set the starting lineup for the main event.

The race is scheduled to take place Friday, August 20, 2027.

“Bringing the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time is an incredibly exciting moment for this historic facility and for our fans,” said Clay Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway and vice president of NASCAR Mid-Atlantic. “Bowman Gray has always been about putting on unforgettable racing in front of some of the most passionate fans in the sport. We know the Trucks will put on an incredible show when they take on The Madhouse.”

Bowman Gray celebrated the news by having Rajah Caruth doing burnouts around the ‘Madhouse’ in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports truck.
